Sayings in Swedish and English and Leijaish

Karin Boye (1900 - 1941) said in Swedish "Nog finns det mål och mening i vår färd - men det är vägen, som är mödan värd". This was very revolutionary in the early 1900's, but is easily translated to daily life and poets of today. Paolo Coelho (1947- ) actually translated the meaning when he said "It's the journey not the destination that counts".

My life is a wonderful journey and I do not care about the destination, as long as I am happy when I arrive.

Oh what a beautiful morning!

I feel like singing Ray Charles song "Oh what a beautiful morning" when I happily look out of my tower at the Stockholm autumn sun in the crisp morning.

How lucky I am to have this wonderful life.

Ethics and Morals

I saw the film Wall Street with Michael Douglas the other day and it got me thinking about greed and morals. Every ten years these issues pop up again, usually as a result from a financial crisis when most unethical tricks are drawn out into the sunlight. It's quite horrifying what people would do for money and to what lengths they'd go. For me ethics and loyalty will always be more valuable than any amount of money possible. I would rather lose a million than turn on a friend or steal from my partners. Sometimes I'm told I should be tougher and see the world through the eyes of the Gordon Geckos and Bernard Madoffs in the world, but I do not believe that is the way to go through life.

What comes around goes around, and as my good friend always says "good things come to good people and bad things come to bad people".

Oh and by the way, I'm going to New York for the weekend, will return with great new hotel experiences and I promise to go nowhere close to Wall Street.

More Beachcombers

Today I had lunch with a dear old friend Jean-Marc Lagesse. He is today the CEO of Mauretean hotels Le Paradis and Dinarobin, both part of Beachcomber Group. He started as a tennis pro at Le Paradis and has made his way to the top from there. Not only me, but also my son Jonatan who's worked there for him sees him as a great role model in life.

The villas at Le Paradis are one of our favorite products for Swedish families, even the Royal family has been seen there on vacation.

The newly refurbished Dinarobin looks amazing from the pictures. We will visit them very soon and let you know more then.

A lunch for the future

Today I had a great lunch with Micheline Perisson and Marc Hausser from Beachcomber Hotels Mauritius, at Villa Källhagen. 18 years of cooperation and mutual respect and friendship is a great foundation for the hugely succesful deals we have. Soon I'll introduce some even better deals to you. Will keep you posted!

Great deal in Monaco

I told you before about Metropole Hotel in Monaco, where I stayed a week ago with the Managers of Select. I just received word from my staff about the fabulous deals we can offer our customers who'd like to stay there. It's a very special deal, we can assure you that you'll be delighted. Call Linda (see picture below) in our Stockholm Office phone number +46 08 678 15 15 , she will tell you more.

I already look forward to going there again! Maybe I should go there for the Formula 1 Race, I think I would like it; fast cars and lot's of fun people. I even know a few of the drivers who are clients of ours.

Opera trio at Nalen

Last night I attended a party arranged by Antor (Association National Tourist Offices Representatives in Sweden) at Nalen in Stockholm. The Queen Silvia's favorite opera group Divine performed at the party. They are amazingly good. Here's a link to Youtube to one of their performances.

I met so many colleagues yesterday, it was great fun to talk to Pamela Nordqvist and Elisabet Lanz whom I haven't seen in ages.

Select and Pearls of the Indian Ocean

Tonight we have a fabulous event at Villa Pauli, an exclusive members club just outside Stockholm. The event is called Pearls of the Indian Ocean and will feature the destinations Mauritius and the Maldives. One & Only Resort will present themselves. I am very much looking forward to the food and champagne and a presentation by Sweden's most prominent jewel expert Sandra Brauns from Bukowskis who'll talk about pearls.

Select and Polo

Select Collection sponsored the Scandinavia Polo Open this year. A fantastic event with polo games, champagne and many wonderful hats.
